Your Name: Denise Yergenson
Your bio: Denise Yergenson, the current chair of The Women’s Fund, was born and raised in Northern California and has made Redding her home since 1986. During the day you’ll find her fielding questions and keeping the public informed on what is happening on area highways from Tehama County to the Oregon border, as the chief public information officer for the California Department of Transportation.
Denise earned a bachelor’s degree from Chico State University. Shortly afterward, she convinced longtime Redding community leader Lou Gerard to hire her at the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce. Mentored by Lou’s wife, Diane, Denise discovered her passion for community service. She’s taken that passion and used it to help others through her work with Redding East Rotary, Camp Fire Boys and Girls, and Soroptimist.
Denise also has been very active in the school system in Shasta County. She served as president of the Redding Elementary School District Board, was involved with nearly every parent-teacher group at her son’s and daughter’s schools and even found the time to coach her daughter’s dance team.
