Your bio:  Denise Yergenson, the current chair of The Women’s Fund, was born and raised in Northern California and has made Redding her home since 1986.  During the day you’ll find her fielding questions and keeping the public informed on what is happening on area highways from Tehama County to the Oregon border, as the chief public information officer for the California Department of Transportation.

Denise YergensonDenise earned a bachelor’s degree from Chico State University. Shortly afterward, she convinced longtime Redding community leader Lou Gerard to hire her at the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce. Mentored by Lou’s wife, Diane, Denise discovered her passion for community service. She’s taken that passion and used it to help others through her work with Redding East Rotary, Camp Fire Boys and Girls, and Soroptimist.

Denise also has been very active in the school system in Shasta County. She served as president of the Redding Elementary School District Board, was involved with nearly every parent-teacher group at her son’s and daughter’s schools and even found the time to coach her daughter’s dance team.

She continues to shake her groove thing while taking evening dance classes. When she finally gets home and puts her feet up, she enjoys stalking her children, Kaitlyn and Dane, on social media (because how else can moms keep up when the kids move away) and snuggling up with her “dog kids” Baron and Park.  Weekends are made for football in the Yergenson household, whether that means watching it on TV, or watching her husband, Randy, coach the Shasta Junior Wolves.

Denise believes TWF is a perfect fit for her. It exemplifies all she stands for when it comes to giving back and helping those in need. The extra added benefit comes in working with a wonderful group of dynamic people who also truly care about our community!
